HNN carries out research and studies focused on the issues, challenges, and realities of informal-sector workers and grassroots communities, and documents that evidence so it can inform practice and policy.
Impact
Evidence generated by HNN has supported national policy discussions, including the drafting of the Poverty Alleviation National Policy.

HNN strengthens community leaders and member-based organisations so that informal-sector workers gain recognition, visibility, protection, and better livelihoods in their own communities.
Impact
Grassroots representation contributed to HNN being appointed to the Task Force of the Government's Policy Drafting Committee in 2013.

From the 2015 earthquake through the COVID-19 pandemic, HNN has worked directly in the field with affected communities on preparedness, response, rehabilitation, reconstruction, and healthcare support.
Impact
HNN was one of the main actors in the field after the 2015 earthquake across Kathmandu, Lalitpur, Bhaktapur, Gorkha, Nuwakot, and Sindhupalchowk.

Since 2010, HNN has promoted sustainable and decent livelihoods for vulnerable families in both rural and urban areas, with priority given to disaster-affected families, ultra-poor communities, women affected by violence, and people with disabilities.
Impact
865 families have received livelihood-related support through HNN's interventions.
